Libby Ales 

Libby Ales is a Speech-Language Pathologist and joined the Elkhart Elementary school community in the 2017-2018 school year. She is originally from Madison, Wisconsin and got her M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Wisconsin. Go Badgers! Libby is bilingual in English and Spanish and enjoys reading and hiking. 


My job is to accelerate the learning of every APS student every day. I do my job by creating a supportive classroom where students feel challenged and empowered to learn new speech and language skills.

Bre Artist

Bre Artist earned a BA in History from the University of Colorado Denver in 2006 and pursued teaching through the Teacher in Residency program, also through UCD. She has been with the Aurora Public Schools for 14 years, working as a special education teacher for the past 10 years. She lives in Aurora with her husband and two children, who also attend school in APS.

Job Description:

My job is to accelerate learning for every APS student, every day. I do my job by developing and implementing specially designed instruction to empower and enable students with disabilities to reach their highest potential in and out of the classroom.

Aevin Perabo 

Aevin Perabo joined Elkhart in the middle of the 2021-22 school year. He obtained his master’s degree in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE) from Regis University and his bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Originally from El Paso, Texas, he is bilingual in English and Spanish and enjoys being outdoors in his spare time.

My job is to accelerate the learning of every APS student every day. 

I do my job by providing specialized instructional support to students every day. I empower students to take ownership of their learning in a caring environment. I provide differentiated lessons to meet individual needs of students with disabilities.

Special Ed. Teacher

Nicole Correia

Nicole joined the Elkhart community in 2019 and has been teaching first grade ever since! She obtained her M. Ed in Special Education at Keene State College in New Hampshire. In her free time, she enjoys doing yoga, cooking, hiking, and spending time with her friends.

I do my job by providing differentiated, research based instruction and by creating a safe learning environment.

Speech/Language Therapist 

Stacy Hayden

Stacy Hayden is a Speech-Language Pathologist who joined the Elkhart Elementary community in the 2020-2021 school year. She is originally from the Portland, OR Metro area, but she received her Master’s of Science Degree in Speech, Language, Hearing and Occupational Sciences from University of Montana. In her spare time she likes to be outside, hike, camp, and attend live music events.

My job is to accelerate the learning of every APS student, every day. I do my job by creating a supportive classroom where students feel challenged and empowered to learn new speech and language skills.
